A Quilt for Peter is the working title for the collection of Peter Bell’s written works that I hope to publish by year’s end. I see my editorial duties as quite limited: I intend to make the fewest possible changes to Peter’s work: an occasional spelling correction, maybe a change in format so that the text will appear more appealing as an e-book. Rather, I want the work – Peter’s work – to speak for itself.
Let me say just a few more words about what lies in store for you. Some of you may already know something of Peter’s work, but it came as a surprise to me to find writing that encompassed several genres: there are ghost stories; contemplative pieces that capture Peter’s feelings about approaching death. Some of the stories may well be based on Peter’s own family history. There are poems from his adult years, including several that were written just for me – lovely and loving words that I now wish to share. There are even ‘cartoons’ as well as sketches for a quilt in progress during the last months of his life. In fact, the banner for this blog is a panel from that quilt.
Some of the writings are very personal. But I wish to share them with others who loved and were loved by Peter – even those that may reflect rather poorly on yours truly.
There isn’t much that I would change about the oh-so-little time that he and I shared – except what cannot be altered: its brevity. But such an intense and loving time it was.
So, again, let this blog and your comments be about Peter, his work and his lasting influence on each of us.
i would be glad of any assistance.. i would love to help a fellow poet and writer out of love =P i have all the time in the world sir so just make me do anything.. i won;t ask for anything in return because helping makes me feel mushy inside and makes time worthwhile.
how exciting!
Renee,
Thank you for visiting! I hope you get a chance to read the stories – and the heart-rending 1-act play. If you do, please let me know what you think of the writing (and maybe even what you think of my ‘formatting’ skills). I am hoping to get the poems published to the iTunes store in another day or two…
